About Rene
I was born in southwest Texas and grew up in southeastern New Mexico, in the small oil town of Hobbs. Though I loved and appreciated the Llano Estacado region, I moved to Lincoln in 2002 for school and a change of environment. I switched from a student of Early Childhood Education to electrical work and found my place in the low voltage field. Upon joining the IBEW LU265 I found that solidarity with one another means so much more than I had previously thought. Around the same time I joined the Democratic Socialists of America. I was then contacted and brought into the Lincoln Chapter. Upon joining these organizations, I helped organize people, events, and fundraisers. I co-created a few different groups in each organization. No amount of service could ever pay back what I take from them. They have been foundational for my recent venture into organizing and civic service. I have 20+ years in the construction industry, 20+ years in the service industry including bagger produce clerk, overnight stocker, kitchen cook, deli, and all sides of the restaurant field including dishwasher, cook, server, Assistant, and General Manager. Through all of this I have led many, and will never stop learning from and teaching others. I plan to spend the next 20 years organizing and serving the public as much as possible!

A community-focused leader.

Empowering Our Community
By campaigning for City Council, I will learn from the community in order to help us lead and, grow together for a better tomorrow! The working class in Lincoln is a wealth of knowledge and should not have to deal with poor public transit, high property taxes, and a board that seems to not answer to the citizens of this city. I proudly present an alternative to the status quo. Let’s advance Lincoln together!
